Galashiels 10/3/2016

Mission Update: October 3rd 2016 Galashiels, The Borders of Scotland

Hello everyone this week has been crazy. Moves was so crazy. Here was the story of my moves to Galashiels from Dumbarton:

So we woke up at 5:30 so we could catch the train at 7. We had to haul all of our luggage to the train station. It usually takes 5 minutes to get from the Dumbarton flat to the Train station but with all of our stuff it took like 15 minutes. We trained into Glasgow Queen Street, Where Elder Roylance and I parted ways. I then took a train from Glasgow to Edinburgh on my one. I missed the train I was supposed to take so I got the next one. It was weird being on my own. In the middle of the trip our train got in a accident. We were stuck for about an hour. It turned out that our train hit someone, sad. I hope he is okay! So what turned into a 50 minute train to Edinburgh turned into 2 hours. So I got to Haymarket station in Edinburgh a hour late to meet Elder Watson, so there was no one there. I didn’t have a phone ether, I just sat there for a hour praying that someone would find me! A hour later, the Edinburgh Zone Leaders found me. Heavenly Father truly does answer prayers. The zone leaders then took me and Elder Watson to the Edinburgh Waverly Station to take a train to Galashiels! Before we got on the train, the bar on one of my suitcases broke, Sad day. I’ll have to get a new suit case. So we went on our merry way to Galashiels. While we were getting off in Galashiels, the train doors closed so we had to ride to the end of the line and back to Galashiels. Our branch President, President Kelly, was there to pick us up so I’m grateful because the walk to our flat is far from the Train station
Here is the Walk about 27 minutes, but imagine that with Suitcases…

So that was my moves!

We spent the rest of the week getting to know our area better!
We met with some with an investigator, Mark and his girlfriend who is a member. They were taught by the Missionaries before we got here. They were really nice. Mark showed us a really cool but weird trick. He lit his hand on fire!! Like Okay… Very Interesting. It was great to get to know them!

On Saturday we went to President Kelly’s house for dinner and to watch the Saturday Morning Session of Conference!
I loved Conference. I wasn’t able to all of it so hopefully I’ll get to catch up on that sometime!

So that was a summary of the crazy week I had, it was great!

I hope you all have a great week

Love,

Elder Joseph Udy
