12/27/16 Galashiels

December 27th 2016: Galashiels, Scotland

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

It was a very rainy week as we came into Christmas!

I enjoyed Christmas! Skyping my family was probably my favorite part! I;m grateful that our branch president, President Kelly, allowed us to skype at his house even though he wasn't feeling the best!

The week leading up to Christmas was great as well!

We had a All Scotland on the 20th of December. We had fun doing some Christmas singing! We watched the movie Brave. It was funny because it takes place in Scotland! We had a huge snowball fight (using fluffy white balls). It was great and President Donaldson joined in as well!

On Christmas eve and Christmas Day we spent time with Mark and Kate!

It was very emotional to me that this is my second and final Christmas as a missionary! I really enjoyed sharing with people the true gift of Christmas, Jesus Christ! It makes Christmas all so more special!

I am grateful for all the Christmas wishes!

I hope you all have a Happy New Year #2017

Love,
Elder Joseph Udy

Galashiels 10/10/2016

October 10th 2016 Galashiels, The Scottish Borders

Hello Everyone!

This week has been a great week!

On our P-Day we went thrift shopping! They have a ton of Thrift shops here in Galashiels!

On Tuesday we went to Edinburgh for District meeting! We usually go to Dalkeith ward building to have it but they were having a funeral at the building! Before the district meeting we got to go inside the mission home! It was my first time in the mission home since coming into the mission! I got to see President Donaldson!
In District meeting we talked about our goals for this transfer. It was great, we even met in the Nursery (because there was construction in the rest of the building)
Afterwards, President Donaldson took us to the train station so we could go back to Galashiels!

This week we were able to see our friend Mark. We taught him The Plan of the Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is preparing to be Baptized on the 12th of November!

This week we did a lot of finding. Our bus passes finally came so this next we should be great!

On Thursday I had to go to Edinburgh for the doctors. While on the way back to the train, we got some good pictures of Edinburgh Castle!

On Saturday we went to our branch president’s house for dinner! Everything he cooks is homemade. He is such a cool guy. He used to sing Country professionally!

On Sunday we got to go to our first sacrament meeting in Galashiels. The branch is quite small but they are so kind!

We have our All Scotland Conference

I hope everyone’s week was great

Until next week,

Mission Update: October 3rd 2016 Galashiels, The Borders of Scotland

Hello everyone this week has been crazy. Moves was so crazy. Here was the story of my moves to Galashiels from Dumbarton:

So we woke up at 5:30 so we could catch the train at 7. We had to haul all of our luggage to the train station. It usually takes 5 minutes to get from the Dumbarton flat to the Train station but with all of our stuff it took like 15 minutes. We trained into Glasgow Queen Street, Where Elder Roylance and I parted ways. I then took a train from Glasgow to Edinburgh on my one. I missed the train I was supposed to take so I got the next one. It was weird being on my own. In the middle of the trip our train got in a accident. We were stuck for about an hour. It turned out that our train hit someone, sad. I hope he is okay! So what turned into a 50 minute train to Edinburgh turned into 2 hours. So I got to Haymarket station in Edinburgh a hour late to meet Elder Watson, so there was no one there. I didn’t have a phone ether, I just sat there for a hour praying that someone would find me! A hour later, the Edinburgh Zone Leaders found me. Heavenly Father truly does answer prayers. The zone leaders then took me and Elder Watson to the Edinburgh Waverly Station to take a train to Galashiels! Before we got on the train, the bar on one of my suitcases broke, Sad day. I’ll have to get a new suit case. So we went on our merry way to Galashiels. While we were getting off in Galashiels, the train doors closed so we had to ride to the end of the line and back to Galashiels. Our branch President, President Kelly, was there to pick us up so I’m grateful because the walk to our flat is far from the Train station
Here is the Walk about 27 minutes, but imagine that with Suitcases…

So that was my moves!

We spent the rest of the week getting to know our area better!
We met with some with an investigator, Mark and his girlfriend who is a member. They were taught by the Missionaries before we got here. They were really nice. Mark showed us a really cool but weird trick. He lit his hand on fire!! Like Okay… Very Interesting. It was great to get to know them!

On Saturday we went to President Kelly’s house for dinner and to watch the Saturday Morning Session of Conference!
I loved Conference. I wasn’t able to all of it so hopefully I’ll get to catch up on that sometime!

So that was a summary of the crazy week I had, it was great!

I hope you all have a great week

Love,

Elder Joseph Udy
