Hello
Everyone!
It has been
a great first week here in Dumfries.
It is a lot
bigger then Galashiels. Its great to have 4 missionaries here, we have a lot of
fun finding. We usually take a whiteboard into the town centre and ask people
questions.
We met this
man named Peter while whiteboarding. We had a great lesson with him. He suffers
from mental challenges so I was able to testify how the Atonement of Jesus
Christ can strengthen us because of my trials. Unfortunately, he dropped us
over text latter in the week.
Wednesday
the missionaries here teach a scripture study class at the church. So we that
with the other missionaries. We taught a intro to the Book of Mormon!
On Friday we went to the Turners, a family in
the Dumfries Ward. They made a roast with gravy and yorkshire pudding. Yummm.
Saturday, a
man named John Samuels had us over. He is a friend that likes having the
missionaries over. He owns and operates his own pharmacy in town. He made a
great stew. He also showed us his picture when he went to Jerusalem.
We also taught this man named Mark Omar. He is
a Jew. It was my first time teaching a jew. We came out of the lesson knowing
what to teach next time. It was just hard to know because most Jews don’t
believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior and Redeemer of the world.
Sunday was a
great day. I got to meet most of the members! It's the biggest Ward/Branch that
I’ve been in one in my mission!
We went over
after church to the Goodare, another family in the ward. We helped cook a ton
of frozen pizzas and garlic bread. I made the dessert of course, “Eat and Mess”
a desert that has a lot of sugar and fruit! It was Elder Harvey’s birthday so
we had a yummy costco cake. After the others had fun singing and playing
instruments while I played with Elijah, one of the younger kids, and his train
tack set. Brought back some good memories!
This week I
have been doing a study of some of the doctrinal mastery scriptures. Lets just
say that my mind has been fed:)
Well that
was basically the week. Sorry that I have no pictures but we are going to a
castle today so I have pictures next week!
Love,
Elder Joseph
Udy
